Why is Good Friday good?

Because....

Isaiah 53:4-6 says, ( vs. 4)" Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; (Good news for us.)

(vs. 5) "But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well - being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. ( Good news for us.)

(vs. 6) " All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him." ( Good news for us.)

I Peter 2: 24 " And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. ( Good news for us )

Romans 5:8 " But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ( Good news for us. )

John 19: 30 " Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, " It is finished!" and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit."

     It is good for us because God sent His Son on a " Rescue Mission" and Jesus could say, " It is finished" because He accomplished this rescue mission! Only One man was good enough, and perfect enough to save us. The one spotless lamb could accomplish this, and that makes it good for us. It is good, because we are not! In Randy Alcorn's book "90 Days of God's Goodness" he says, "...Out of the appallingly bad came what was inexpressibly good. And the good trumps the bad, because though the bad was temporary, the good is eternal." What Jesus did for us on the cross is indeed cause for celebration, the celebration of the " Good". The Goodness of God and the Good news of His glorious gospel! ( I Timothy 1:11) Amen, and may our Good God be praised!!
